A think tank and free speech forum for progressive ideas about how the Internet should be indexed, XODP encourages the critical analysis of the various strategies and technologies that are currently being used to map and navigate the Internet. XODP's original focus was on the role that human beings play as infomediaries in community-built Web indexes such as Netscape's Open Directory Project (ODP), the pioneer volunteer project from which XODP's name was derived. However, posts can be submitted on any topic and now range from announcements of new Web directories and search engines to discussions about problems and concerns that individual webmasters may have with getting a particular website indexed. Membership in this group is open to anyone, and anyone can access the group's online archives. However, due to enormous levels of spam, only members can post, and all posts are subject to moderation to ensure compliance with Yahoo! Groups Terms of Service. [Modified December 16, 2005.].
